Inspiration: Hello Cupcake

Everyone knows the economy is not as perky as it once was.  In my day-to-day work I interact with a lot of artists.  So many of them are frustrated, complaining despairing, and giving up their craft as times get tough.  When Stacy at Hello Cupcake shared her new product line with me, I was astounded and inspired by the way she is dealing with the economic up as downs.

This week, Hello Cupcake rolled out a new product for their line of adorable stationary: The Jobseekers Correspondence Kit.  The kit comes with 50 business cards, 25 address labels, 25 sheets of resume letterhead, and 25 of the essential (but often forgotten) thank-you note which is personalized with you name.  Stacy makes the kit in multiple styles and colors, with cute themes like bikes, whales or my favorite- pears.  Her designs are simple and distinctive, and would definitely set any job seeker apart from the pack.

I asked Stacy about her design process.  Here is what she had to say;

For some odd reason, in my everyday life, when I look at things I tend to break them down into simple shapes.  Because of this, I like to use simple shapes and simple lines in my designs.  Most of my designs can be broken down by shape. Take for example, the birds in my shop banner, they are a series of simple circles, triangles and straight lines that are used in a way to look like a bird.  I am also drawn to fun pops of color like teal blue, lime green and yellow.  These colors can be found in nearly all of my designs.  I think they are so cheerful and I love these colors so much that I will be using them in my upcoming wedding!

Crafting is like therapy for me.  I can’t imagine a life without it. I get lost in my work and I can get so wrapped up in my projects to the point that I forget to eat and loose track of time!  I love that with the Job Seekers Kit I have created something that I believe can help people stand out in a tough economy while staying true to my love of crafting and my design aesthetic.”

I was so inspired by her work that I had to share.   I really believe that Hello Cupcake exemplifies the spirit of the handmade movement, making something beautiful, creative and useful that will enrich people’s lives.
