Ashley's Original Design

Announcing… the brand new Kendra Renee Jewelry website!

I have a gorgeous new website.  This was a huge project that was begun back in January and could not have been completed without the help of two outstanding individuals: Ashley Madau and Robby Bryant.  Ashely Madau, of Cardboard Monet, is a talented young graphic designer.  I found her through etsy, and she agreed to design my entire website as well as a stunning package of matching marketing materials.  Her original mockup is pictured here.  I am so pleased with her design- didn’t she do a great job?  Robby Bryant, (my wonderful boyfriend and brilliant engineer) picked up where Ashley left off and coded the new site.  Thanks to Robby, I can now update my website much more easily (no more out-of-date shows!).  The best part of Robby’s engineering, though, is that you can now buy my products directly through my website!  He created a shopping cart that hooks up to paypal, so now shopping directly with me is easier than shopping on etsy!

Check out the new page at www.KendraReneeJewelry.com– read my new artist statement, find out the new shops I’m selling in, and check out what shows I’ll be appearing at!

Thank you, Yountville!

This past Saturday I participated in the 17th Annual Taste of Yountville Festival.  It was an amazing day!  I met many wonderful new customers from all over the country.  I also met several of the members of the San Francisco Etsy Street Team– a great group of crafters from the Bay Area.  I shared a booth with the lovely Alana from Etta + Billie.  I got to smell the delicious (and organic!) essential oils from her handmade bath and body products all day.  The sun was shining and there was a beautiful breeze- it couldn’t have been better weather for drinking wine and looking at art.

Beautiful Yountville!

Sneak Peek, Spring 2010

It’s time for something new.

Some new ideas...

I’ve been caught up in filling orders and rebuilding inventory since the holiday rush ended, and I’m dying to try out some new designs.  I’m finding myself drawn to chains this season- I’m going to be working with both handmade and manufactured chain.   Traditionally I’ve always hated chain; single, delicate chains never appealed to me, but now I’m thinking about layering different styles of chain to build up a tapestry of textures and finishes.  Delicate and industrial, big and small- you’ll see them in my work soon!

I also bought some rubies.  These 8mm cabs are lab grown- chemically the same as a natural ruby (science is so cool!)   They’re a gorgeous shade of magenta and I can’t wait to pair them with a pearl in an oxidized silver setting.

Here are a few quick sketches I’ve done for the new spring line.  Nothing too detailed- just a sneak peek!

Big necklaces, sculptural rings...

Look at those RUBIES!

Hi! I’m Kendra.

Thought I'd post my first photo to give you a taste...

I’m Kendra, owner of Kendra Renee Jewelry Design.

I’m 23, I live in San Francisco, and I’m a jewelry artist and new entrepreneur.  In the short time that I have been in business (officially since August 28, 2009), I’ve learned that I’m incredibly lucky to be working for myself, doing what I love, right out of college.  By starting this blog, I intend to share my experiences navigating the world of business and art- from creating new designs to doing my taxes.  This will be a place where other artists can hopefully find the inspiration to take that next leap of faith, and Kendra Renee Jewelry enthusiasts can read about my next big thing to come.  The fact that I wear many hats (including designer, inventory manager, product photographer, marketing strategist, saleswoman, bookkeeper and web administrator… to name a few) means that although I won’t have the time to blog every day, I’ll have something new to talk about every time.

Thanks for reading.
